Even if you're not in France, you can get your own crock of herbes de Provence online or at any gourmet store.

Other than the benefits of herbs, I was attracted to the cute ceramic pot. Isn't it pretty?
So to get a share of the French and Italian gourmet world, I looked for some and bought mine (just without the crockpot 😇). It's funny as I don't often use mixed herbs every day. However, there's something in it that makes me happy feeling I have them in my kitchen.

Do you also want to get your own Herbes de Provence crockpot? You can buy it here.

Herbes de Provence, or Provençal herbs, is a blend of French aromatic herbs that flourish in the hills of Southern France during the hot summer months. It consists of lavender, fennel, rosemary, basil, and thyme. The herb mix uses herbs that are native to France, however, bay leaf, thyme, fennel, rosemary, chervil, oregano, summer savory, tarragon, mint, and marjoram are among those included.

Why use this spice?

Herbes de Provence is known best for grilled meat, fish, and vegetables. You can create a fusion of olive oil and the herbs and brush it over any fish or meat before grilling or roasting.

The herbs also have the ability to add zest in sauteed vegetables as well as stews, and soups.  So your simplest dishes can come out savory-licious. You simply need to crush the herbs with your fingers and then sprinkle them into your dish.

If you're fond of potatoes, create a fantastic flavor: Saute them in garlic butter and a little olive oil. Put some salt on it and then the herbes de Provence. That's a simple recipe I learned from the French.

I love sprinkling my steak with the herbs - it tastes grandeur, trust me. You should try it. They also enhance the taste of a simple roasted vegetable recipe. I must say - anything roasted is worth a sprinkle of these herbs.

Since ancient times, herbs are ideally added to the food before or during cooking to infuse their true flavors into the cooked food. Today, many chefs and master cooks soak the herbs in oil or water to extract a more intense flavor.

If chefs do that, we too can do the same.😀

How to Make Your Own Herbes de Provence

In a food processor, put together four tablespoons each of dried basil, savory, thyme, rosemary, oregano, and lavender (this is a very important ingredient). If you have fennel seeds, grind and include them. You can include, marjoram, savory, as well.

You can make them as fine as you want. But I like mine a little coarse so I can see bits of the herbs which feels a bit peasant and country. You will love the pleasant and appetizing aroma of the herbs as the food processor works on them.

As soon as you get the ideal coarseness or fineness of your herbs - you're done. You may want to put them in a nice, antique, or vintage-looking jar. If you create a bulk then you can gift them to your friends.

I have tried combining herb mixture, which I finely crushed with half a cup of honey, and use it as a glaze to my chicken when it's almost done roasting. When the herbs were a little cooked (not burnt) they magically seasoned my chicken.

The conclusion...

The sense that herbes de Provence is a combination of French herbs, flowery lavender with Italian herbs, and fennel - each of these herbs when intensified with heat throws its own zest.

Isn't this bring back a taste from the historical influence of the Romans? Wow. The fun part is you're bringing French flavors to your table! Imagine this three-in-one blend of tradition in my and your humble kitchen?

Special Tip:
Using mortar and pestle to crush herbs always and all the time works really great.

Are you fond of using spices on your baked goods?

Then you'll love to add some seed spices to your ingredients. These seeds give a sweet nutty flavor that adds a new level to your baked bread and pastries.

The great thing is their very high nutritional value. So on top of adding great flavor is the healthiness in your cookies and other homemade delicacies.

Seeds and berry spices are excellent ingredients you can add to your dishes be it cooked or raw. It's as easy as mixing them into batters, sprinkle into bread, or as a salad garnishing. Toast the seeds and they'll release a more intensified flavor.

Take a look at what you need!
